The REFLECTIONS Art Program has concluded for this year. Winning entries at the District PTA level are on their way to the State PTA. We are leaving this information on the web site for future reference and example. New due dates and information will be appearing in the late summer / fall of 2016. Thank you to all the volunteers who make this a successful program at the Council PTA level. Congratulations to all those who entered, especially those whose entries continued to the next levels of PTA.
2016-2017 Reflections theme: "What is Your Story…"
It is a nation-wide arts appreciation and recognition program for students sponsored by National PTA. To take part, student Reflections' entries at a school are first recognized, judged and celebrated by the local PTA unit. Some selected unit entries are then chosen to represent the PTA at the council and district PTA levels. Student artwork submitted to California State PTA by a district PTA will be considered for an Award of Excellence and an Award of Merit.

The Reflections Program is structured for PTAs to recognize students at the unit, council, district, state and National PTA levels. Winning entries from units are advanced through PTA channels and are displayed at State and National Conventions.
A student can submit entry in all categories.
A student can submit more than one entry in a category.
The rules for the six categories are as follows:

The general participation rules are as follows:
Participation in the Reflections Program is organized by ‘Division’. This allows recognition and judging of artwork by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The five divisions are as follows:
- Primary - Preschool - Grade 2 or up to age 7
- Intermediate - Grades 3-5 or ages 8-10
- Middle/Junior - Grades 6-8 or ages 11-13
- Senior - Grades 9-12 or ages 14+
- Special Artist
This is a non-graded division limited to students whose physical, cognitive or mental health challenges meet the guidelines in the American Disabilities Act. Qualifying students create their own artwork. But, they may receive non-artistic accommodation and assistance from an adult.
Student Entry Form:
Paper form: Chairpersons should download this form from CA PTA and make a master copy with your local unit information completed before distributing to students.
If your unit wishes to use the electronic form developed by FCPTA for student submission, please write to reflections.fcpta [at] gmail.com for how to use this form.
This form is required when a person, other than the student submitting the artwork, is recognizable in the entry in either image or voice. For example: In a student's film, there are 2 actors in addition to the student, consent forms will be needed for the 2 actors. A consent form will not be needed for the student who is submitting the artwork entry as his/her consent is included on the participation form.
