FCPTA Founders' Day Photos (3/18/2019)
Founders’ Day is a time to reflect on the original founders of PTA and to recognize our own volunteers and givers of time and energy at our school sites. This can look different at each school, but the awards are the same across PTA/PTSAs. They are:
• Very Special Person Award- Given to individuals or PTA constituent organizations to recognize having contributed to the school community in a special way.
• Honorary Service Award- Given to an individual or organization in special recognition of outstanding service to children and youth.
• Continuing Service Award- Given to an individual or organization in special recognition of continued service to children and youth. The recipient may or may not have received a California State PTA Honorary Service Award.
• Outstanding Teacher Award- Given to a teacher in special recognition for outstanding service in positively impacting the lives and welfare of children and youth in the PTA, school, or community.
• Outstanding Administrator Award- Given to an administrator in special recognition for outstanding service in positively impacting the lives and welfare of children and youth in the PTA, school, or community.
• Golden Oak Award- This is the most prestigious PTA award in California. This award may be given to an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school or community.
Each PTA/PTSA is highly encouraged to host their own school site Founders’ Day celebration. A committee may be formed to elicit nominations in the categories listed above and selections are then made. Check your PTA/PTSA budget for amount allocated for certificates and pins. They can be ordered here . A celebratory event at your school site may be held to recognize those recipients of your school site’s PTA/PTSA Founders’ Day Awards. If you are giving out awards, please notify the Founders Day chair at council who is being recognized, for what award, and at which PTA/PTSA school site.
